What does it do?

CC: Tweaked gives players computers in the game. Not a decorative toy — a real computer with a terminal into which you type programs in Lua. A player builds a computer, connects it to a monitor, with a cable to a chest, and starts writing what it should do.

The most useful part is turtles: mobile machines that can mine, build and carry items. They build a fence, dig a tunnel, plant a field. Anyone who knows a bit of programming can create automation in Minecraft for which they would need dozens of machines in other mods.

For a server, this is a double-edged thing. On one hand, it is the best attraction for technical players who will stick with it for months. On the other hand, a turtle can mine and build anywhere the player leads it. On a public server, it pays to think ahead and write in the rules what is still okay (for example, automatic farms yes, tearing down other people's builds no).

There are also players who program things for others on the server — shops, elevators, information panels. If you have a friendly attitude toward that, it can liven up your community quite a bit.

CC: Tweaked belongs on both sides: on the server, so that the machines exist in the world, and on the players' side, so that they see the terminals and can type into them. Without the mod on the player's side, the computer displays as an empty block and cannot be controlled.

Installation

  1. CC: Tweaked belongs on the server and on players too — the same version on both sides.
  2. Find out the server loader (Forge, NeoForge or Fabric) and download the mod from modrinth.com/mod/cc-tweaked for your game version.
  3. Stop the server and back up the world.
  4. Upload the .jar to the server's mods folder; players do the same on their side.
  5. Start the server and check the console that the mod loaded without errors.
  6. Craft a computer, place it and open the terminal — a command line with a version message must appear.
  7. Try the basic programs: the help command lists built-in programs, dir shows saved files.
  8. Craft a turtle and test that it can move and mine (for example, with a command to dig a tunnel).
  9. Decide what you will allow on the server: automation, shops, programs for others. Write it in the rules.
  10. Tell players that they need the mod on their side too — without it, the computer screen won't open.
  11. If you want to make it easier for players to start, recommend public programs and disks that can be downloaded in-game.
  12. When updating the game, check that a mod version exists for the new version — for older versions it does not update.

Configuration and common mistakes

Turtles can mine and build anywhere. On a public server, think ahead about what you'll allow and write it in the rules — technically, it isn't forbidden by itself.
It belongs on both sides. Without the mod on the player's side, the computer terminal won't appear and the player can't type anything.
Programs are written in Lua. Players who don't know it will appreciate a link to public programs — otherwise they won't fall in love with the mod.
Players save programs on disks and in computers in the world. When moving the world or backing it up, they won't lose them; they're part of the world.
If the computer appears as an empty block after connecting, the player doesn't have the mod on their side — check the version and loader.
The mod is open source. If you want to advise players, refer them to the mod's documentation; there are few in Czech, but even a person without programming can handle the basics.

The guide is our own and is based on the author's documentation.
