What does it do?

Galacticraft sends players into space. It’s not another world that opens with a command — the player builds a rocket, fuels it, boards it, and flies to the Moon. There they build an oxygen-equipped base, mine new materials, and prepare for the next journey, perhaps to Mars.

It’s a mod that turns Minecraft into a completely different game: the player deals with oxygen, temperature, gravity, and transport between worlds. For servers, it’s an attraction that people sign up for — they have a reason to stay and build something long-term.

For operators, Galacticraft has two sides. The pleasant one is that it gives players a goal. The practical one is that every world is a separate dimension, so storage demands increase and the world cannot be backed up as a single file. Plan for that in advance.

The mod belongs on both sides — on the server and with all players. Without the mod on the player’s side, the rocket won’t launch and space blocks look like something else. The version must be the same on both sides, otherwise the player cannot connect.

An interesting note for Czech servers: Galacticraft has been in development for a long time, and its classic line (Legacy) remained on older versions of the game, where it is still used today. In our list, several servers report it in exactly this form.

Installation

  1. Galacticraft belongs on the server and with the players — the same version on both sides.
  2. Find out the server loader (for the classic Forge line) and download Galacticraft from the author's official page (the link is on the mod card).
  3. Stop the server and make a full backup of the world and configuration.
  4. Upload the .jar to the mods folder on the server; players do the same on their side.
  5. Start the server and check the console. The mod adds new dimensions — the first start may take longer.
  6. Verify that the dimensions were actually created (the Moon and other worlds have their own folders in the server world).
  7. Build a rocket, fuel it, and test a trip to the Moon. The entire flight and landing must work.
  8. Test the oxygen equipment: without it, a player won't survive on the Moon. Verify that it works on the server too, not just in singleplayer.
  9. Write a guide for players on how to get started (rocket, fuel, oxygen). With Galacticraft, the beginning is the hardest part.
  10. Set up a backup plan: the individual dimensions are separate worlds, and the backup must include all of them.
  11. Monitor storage size — each new world adds data that must be backed up and transferred.
  12. When updating the game, verify that a corresponding mod line exists for the new version; the classic Legacy stays on older versions.

Configuration and common mistakes

Every space world is a separate dimension. Back up all of them, not just the main one — it's the most common mistake with this mod.
It should be on both sides in the same version. Without the mod on the player's side, the rocket won't launch or display correctly.
Oxygen and temperature are part of the game, not a bug. Prepare players for the fact that without gear they won't survive on the Moon — you'll save yourself questions.
The beginning is the hardest: rocket, fuel, oxygen. Write a short guide for players or refer them to the mod card.
Watch disk space. Space dimensions grow with every build, and backups then take up a lot of space.
When a player can't move after landing or falls outside the map, it's usually a mod version mismatch or an incomplete dimension transfer — check the console.

Where does the guide come from?

The guide is our own and is based on the author's documentation. We describe permissions and commands as facts, we don't make anything up — if mod changes after an update, the guide may be out of date.
