What does it do?
Multiverse-Core is a world manager. A single Minecraft server can have multiple worlds, and this plugin manages them: you create a new world with a different generator, set its difficulty, borders, weather, or spawn, and players travel between them with a command.
Typical use: a survival world for regular play, a creative world for building, a world for minigames, a test world for a new version of Minecraft. Each can have different rules (and different settings), but they run on one server — so players don't lose permissions, economy, or chat.
Multiverse-Core can also handle worlds you already have on disk: you add an existing world to the system with an import command, so nothing is lost and you don't have to start over.
World properties are set at runtime with a command (difficulty, borders, weather, hunger, monster attacks) — without restarting and without editing files. There is one command for each thing, so it can also be scripted into a menu.
Add-ons build on Multiverse: portals between worlds, separate inventories for each world, or linking Nether portals somewhere other than usual. They're worth adding once the basics work.
Watch out for one thing: deleting a world is irreversible and also deletes players' builds. Before any changes to worlds, back up the world folder.
Installation
- Stop the server and make a backup of the folder where the worlds are (so it can be restored).
- Download Multiverse-Core from modrinth.com/plugin/multiverse-core for your server version.
- Upload the .jar to the plugins folder and start the server.
- Verify that it is running: /mv version vyp prints the version and /mv list vyp prints the worlds.
- Create a new world: /mv create normal (for the Nether use nether, for the End use theend). For a custom generator, add its name to the end.
- Set the world spawn: teleport to the place and run /mv setspawn.
- Set what applies in the new world: /mv modify set — for example, difficulty or the world border.
- Try traveling between worlds: /mv tp .
- Assign permissions by world: a regular player should have access only to the worlds they are supposed to visit.
- Set where players should go after joining and after death (the world spawn and the server's main spawn).
- Once the basics are working, add add-ons (portals, separate inventories) — one at a time.
Permissions
Permissions are granted to players or groups — most often with a command /lp user <player> permission set <node> true (LuckPerms). A node that is not in the list is unknown to the plugin.
| Permissions | What does it allow? |
|---|---|
| multiverse.access.<world> | entry into a specific world (e.g. multiverse.access.kreativ) |
| multiverse.teleport.self.* | travel between worlds yourself |
| multiverse.core.spawn.self | return to the world spawn |
| multiverse.core.list.worlds | list worlds (/mv list) |
| multiverse.core.* | world administration (management) |
| multiverse.* | absolutely everything (owner only) |
| Permissions for other commands start with multiverse. or multiverse.core. | /mv help. will list the exact names |
Commands
Type it in chat with slashes as well. Where is it? <player> or <uzel>, fill in your own value without brackets.
| Command | What does it do? |
|---|---|
| /mv list | lists worlds |
| /mv create <name> <typ> [generator] | creates a world (normal, nether, theend) |
| /mv import <name> <typ> | adds a world that is already on disk |
| /mv tp <world> | teleports you to the world |
| /mv setspawn | sets the world spawn to the place where you are standing |
| /mv modify set <vlastnost> <hodnota> | changes a world property (difficulty, border, weather) |
| /mv modify add <vlastnost> <hodnota> | adds to a setting (e.g. a player to the list) |
| /mv spawn | returns you to the world spawn |
| /mv delete <world> | deletes the world (irreversible, including builds) |
| /mv unload <world> | unloads the world from running, but it remains on disk |
| /mv load <world> | loads the world back into running |
| /mv info <world> | information about the world and its settings |
| /mv gamerule <pravidlo> <hodnota> [world] | sets a game rule |
| /mv reload | reloads the configuration |
Configuration and common mistakes
Deleting a world is irreversible and takes players' builds with it. Before every intervention in worlds, back up the world folder — there are no add-ons for restoration.
Worlds take up disk space individually. Before you create a fifth world, check free space — and count on backups.
Set players' access only to the worlds they are supposed to visit. Otherwise, a creative world with free blocks becomes a source of materials for survival.
After adding a new world, check where players go after connecting and after death. Most complaints like "I fell into another world" come from this setting.
Separate inventories and portals belong to add-ons (Multiverse-Inventories, Multiverse-Portals). Add them one at a time and after each one test that travel between worlds works.
If a world doesn't behave according to the settings after a restart, verify that you saved the changes with a command and not just in the file at runtime — the plugin holds the configuration.
The world name is also the folder name on disk. Don't rename it manually; the plugin wouldn't find the world.

Where does the guide come from?
The guide is our own and is based on the author's documentation. We describe permissions and commands as facts, we don't make anything up — if plugin changes after an update, the guide may be out of date.
